Editing a booking
Editing a booking is just like creating one - except everything is pre-filled. You can change the pet, groomer, services, time, notes, discounts, or deposits when it’s allowed.
When can I edit a booking?
A booking is locked if its latest invoice is marked Paid and there’s real money on it (payments or credits). When locked:
- You can still edit notes.
- You cannot change pet, services, time, groomer, or pricing.
Bookings that are Completed but unpaid are still editable.
What changes are blocked when payments exist?
- You can’t change the pet if any payments or balance credits are already applied.
- You can’t mark the booking as Unavailable if a deposit is still recorded.
What happens to prices when I edit?
When you save changes, Barkway re-locks service prices using your current service pricing. That means:
- If prices have changed in Settings, the booking (and invoice) will use the new prices once you save.
What happens to invoices when I edit?
Every time you save changes, Barkway:
- Creates a fresh invoice for the booking.
- Moves any payments and client balance credits to the new invoice.
- Marks the previous invoice as cancelled (for history).
This keeps the invoice clean and matched to the latest booking details.
Pro tips
- Double-check services before saving changes so your invoice stays accurate.
- Use notes for any client-agreed changes (like “shorter trim than usual”).
- If you need to change a paid booking, refund or adjust the payment first.
🐾 Quick, easy, and flexible - editing in Barkway keeps your bookings tidy without the paperwork mess.
