Settings

Think of Settings as Barkway’s control room. It’s where you set the rules once, and let the app run smoothly day-to-day. Branding, hours, deposits, reminders - all the knobs and dials live here.

Business​

Set the essentials that show up everywhere clients see you:

  • Logo & name - appears on invoices and emails.
  • Tagline & website - optional, but a nice touch on public pages.
  • Email & phone - used for invoices and client communications.
  • Address - appears on invoices.
  • Opening hours - used for scheduling and calendar views.

Bookings​

Tweak how new bookings are suggested and handled:

  • Scheduler type - Normal (next available slot) or Smart Scheduler (scored suggestions).
  • Buffer time - minutes between bookings.
  • Recall period (weeks) - used in reporting, recall lists, and recall reminders.
  • Preferred window - optional hours Smart Scheduler tries to fill first.

Notifications​

Control Barkway’s automated messages:

  • Sending options - Enabled / Email only / Disabled.
  • Reminder lead time - how many hours before an appointment to send a reminder.
  • Thank yous - auto-send after a completed & paid booking (with a delay).
  • Recalls - automatically remind clients when pets are overdue.

SMS reminders are not live yet and are not a priority right now. We plan to add them later as a paid add-on.

Payments​

Handle deposits and invoice settings:

  • Currency symbol - what shows on invoices and payment screens.
  • Allow deposits - enable or disable deposit options on bookings.
  • Default deposit amount - fixed value (e.g. £10) or percentage (e.g. 25%). This is used to calculate the required deposit.

Card payments are not supported inside Barkway yet.

Preferences​

Little things that make Barkway feel like your system:

  • Weight unit - kg or lb for pets.
  • Date format - choose your region’s style (e.g., 15/08/2025).
  • Clock format - 12-hour or 24-hour.
  • Timezone - controls reminders, calendar times, and reporting.
  • Default temperament - pre-fills when adding new pets.
  • Vet info required - decide if saving a pet without vet info is allowed.

Breeds​

Keep your breed list neat:

  • Search & delete - bulk-remove unused breeds.
  • Add new - type them in while creating a pet and Barkway saves them automatically.
