Cancelling a booking

Sometimes plans change - dogs get muddy, owners get busy, life happens. Barkway makes it easy to cancel a booking while keeping your records tidy.


How do I cancel a booking?

  1. Open the booking from Bookings or the calendar.
  2. Click Cancel Booking and confirm.

That’s it - the booking status changes to Cancelled and any pending reminder emails are removed.


What happens to payments and deposits?

Cancelling does not change payments or refunds automatically.

  • Any deposits or payments stay recorded.
  • If you want to return money, record a refund manually.

Can I cancel after the groom has started?

Yes. Barkway allows In progress → Cancelled if you need it.


Can I reschedule a cancelled booking?

Yes. Open the booking, click Edit Booking, and save a new date/time. Barkway will move it back to Scheduled.


What about deleting a booking?

Deleting removes the booking from your list entirely. If you’ve recorded payments, it’s usually better to cancel instead so your history stays clear.

  • Keep cancellations instead of deleting - it’s cleaner for reporting and payment tracking.
  • Want to reuse the slot? Cancel first, then re-schedule or create a new booking there.
  • Deposits aren’t refunded automatically - handle any refunds manually if needed.
